Final Firewall: Emptying Your Hand Is Not the Win

22 August 2026 · UNKNOWNFUNCTION

The first versions of this game had a pacing problem. Hands emptied too fast or the table stalled. A lucky last card ended the night before anyone else had a line.

Final Firewall is the fix we kept.

What it actually does

Play your last card. Call SYSTEM CLEAR. You are exposed, not finished. Every attack on the table can now point at you. If more than one player is exposed, the person dealing the damage picks the target.

You win only if you survive until your next turn with that empty hand still empty.

Why it belongs in the game

It stops a single draw from ending the session. It keeps every other player relevant after someone goes out. It makes NULL more than a cute wild. Holding one on the Firewall is a different kind of courage than spending it early.

It also makes long turns a real decision. Damage stacks while you play and lands at the end of the turn. Dumping the hand and handing a fat pile to the player who can still hit you is how people learn the hard way.

The last-card discipline

Go out on a quiet stack if you can. Keep a NULL if the table is armed. Watch who sits to your left. The Firewall is not flavour text. It is the reason a 20-40 minute game still has a last minute.

Try the beat in the free browser build if you want to feel it before the physical deck hits the table. Same rule. Same call. Same ugly silence when someone announces SYSTEM CLEAR and the next player smiles.
